TL;DR
Me Bag — the first assignment
The school provides the bag. Your child brings three items that represent who they are. Toys are fine if they genuinely mean something to your child. The due date has not been announced yet.
Math at home — number pairs to 10
Practice the pairs of numbers that add up to 10 — a deck of Uno cards is the easiest way — and subitizing, which is recognising a quantity on sight without counting; fingers work well for that. The class slides link the videos the teachers use.
Letter sounds — a few every day
Work through a few sounds a day from the linked videos. This is the default homework for every child, including confident readers — the goal is automatic sound recognition, which is a different skill from reading well.
Project: "Ocean of Emotion"
An aquarium-themed unit on identifying emotions, naming them, and learning to regulate them.
Field trips — three, all tentative
October 23: pumpkin patch. November: Legoland and the SEA LIFE Aquarium. December: an emotions workshop at an art studio. All three are tentative and will be confirmed by email. They are in the calendar above marked TENTATIVE, with the two undated ones placed mid-month as placeholders.
Volunteer and driver checklist — do this now
Worth completing even if you do not plan to volunteer, so you are not the reason a trip is short a driver: the annual volunteer form, the free mandated reporter training, and a current driver's license plus vehicle registration on file. No TB test is required.
Heart Letter
Write an encouraging note to your child. The teachers keep it and give it to them on a hard day.
Classroom wish list
Printer paper, tissues, baby wipes, and thin dry-erase markers. Check the updated wish lists before buying — they change through the year.

Bring a shirt your child already owns, pick a design, and we'll press it for free. Reuse over new — one shirt per child, up to five per family.
Every reused shirt is one less new one manufactured.
